# For Producers
> Browse active Beat Requests, understand who can submit, and learn the rules for sending beats to requesters.
Beat Requests help producers discover artists who are already looking for a specific sound. When you find a request that fits your catalog, you can send one or more eligible tracks directly from BeatPass.

## Who Can Submit to Requests
To submit beats to requests, you need:
* **A producer profile** on BeatPass
* The ability to upload tracks to BeatPass
* At least one BeatPass-hosted track that you own or collaborate on
Both verified and non-verified producers can submit when they meet those requirements.
External links cannot be submitted to Beat Requests. You can only send tracks that are already hosted on BeatPass.
Verified producers are notified automatically about new requests. Non-verified producers can still browse the public feed manually and submit when they find a match.

## Finding Beat Requests
### Browsing Active Requests
Navigate to the Beat Requests section to see all currently active requests. Each request shows:
* **Requester name and avatar** — Who's looking for a beat
* **Description** — What they're looking for
* **Specifications** — Genre, BPM, key, mood (if provided)
* **Reference track** — A link to their sound reference
* **Time remaining** — How long until the request expires
* **Submission count** — How many producers have already submitted
### Filtering and Sorting
The beat requests feed includes tools to help you find relevant opportunities:
* **Genre filter** — Narrow results to your specialty
* **Sort options** — **Newest First**, **Expiring Soon**, **Most Submissions**, or **Has Budget**
* **All Requests** vs. **My Requests** — Switch between the public feed and your own posted requests
Expired requests are hidden from **All Requests**, so the public feed stays focused on active opportunities.
Focus on requests where your existing catalog has a good match. Quality over quantity leads to better connections.

## Submitting a Beat
### Step-by-Step
1. **Find a matching request** — Browse and find one that fits your style
2. **Listen to the reference track** — Make sure you understand what they want
3. **Click "Send Beat"** — Opens the submission dialog showing eligible tracks from your catalog
4. **Select one or more tracks** — Choose tracks that match the request
* You must own the track or be listed as a collaborator on it
* Already-submitted tracks are visually marked so you won't pick duplicates
5. **Click "Confirm Submission"** — BeatPass sends the selected tracks to the requester
Need a track that is not in your library yet? Click **Upload New** in the submission dialog. After the new track is uploaded and available, you can submit it from the same flow.
### What Gets Submitted
When you submit:
* The requester receives your **existing track** from your BeatPass catalog
* You can submit up to **5 different tracks** per request
* Each unique track can only be submitted **once per request**
* Tracks must be **platform-hosted** (uploaded to BeatPass, not external links)
* The request stays open for other producers until it expires
### Restrictions

You cannot submit to your own request. BeatPass also blocks duplicate track submissions to the same request and can reject obviously duplicate audio.

## After You Submit
### What Happens
1. **Requester is notified** — They receive a notification about your submission
2. **Submission count increases** — Their request card reflects that another beat was sent
3. **Request stays open** — Others can still submit (requests don't close early)
4. **Requester may reach out** — If they like your beat, they might message you
### Success Messages
After a successful submission:
> "Beat sent successfully! You can submit more tracks to this request if you'd like."
### Error Messages
If something goes wrong:
* **"You have already submitted this track to this request"** — You can't submit the same track twice; pick a different track
* **"Submission limit reached (5 tracks max)"** — You've reached the 5-track limit for this request
* **"Beat request has expired"** — The 24 / 48 / 72-hour window has closed
* **"You can only send tracks that you own or collaborate on"** — Track ownership issue
* **"You do not have permission to send beats"** — Your account is missing upload permissions
* **"This track is not hosted on BeatPass"** or a similar validation error — The track is not eligible for request submission

## Best Practices
### Choosing What to Submit
* **Match the request** — Don't submit trap when they want R\&B
* **Check the reference** — Your beat should sound similar to their example
* **Consider the mood** — An aggressive beat won't work for a chill request
* **Quality matters** — Submit your best work, not just any track
### Building Connections
Beat requests are about more than just submissions:
* **Read requests carefully** — Show you understand what they need
* **Follow up** — If they engage with your submission, be responsive
* **Build relationships** — A good match can lead to ongoing collaborations
### Timing
* **Requests expire after 24, 48, or 72 hours** — Check the time remaining and don't wait too long
* **Early submissions get more attention** — Requesters often check as submissions arrive
* **Check regularly** — New requests are posted throughout the day

## Notifications for Producers
### Getting Notified
Producers can receive notifications for new beat requests:
* **In-app notifications** — Badge appears in your notification center
* **Email notifications** — If enabled in your settings
* **Push notifications** — If enabled in your settings
### Configuring Notifications
1. Click the **notification icon** (bell) in the top navigation bar
2. Click the **settings icon** (gear) to open **Notification Preferences**
3. Find **Beat Requests** section → **Matching Requests**
4. Toggle on/off for each channel (Email, Push, In-App)
If a request card shows **Producer Access Required** instead of **Send Beat**, your account cannot submit until you have producer access and upload eligibility.

## Common Questions
Not necessarily. You can send tracks that already exist in your BeatPass catalog, or use **Upload New** to upload a fresh beat and auto-submit it to the request.
If the requester includes a budget and wants exclusive rights, that negotiation happens directly between you and them via messaging. BeatPass handles standard and exclusive licensing through the normal track-licensing flow.
Currently, submissions cannot be withdrawn once sent. Make sure you're happy with your selection before submitting.
Common reasons:
* The request has expired (its 24/48/72-hour window has closed)
* You already submitted that specific track
* You've reached the 5-track submission limit for this request
* Your track is an external link, not hosted on BeatPass
* It's your own request
* You don't have upload permission or an eligible track in your catalog
Verification happens through Discord. Visit the Producer Program section in Backstage to find the **Verify Through Discord** option.
