# Editorial Collections

> Understand BeatPass editorial collections, who controls them, and what inclusion means for producers.

Editorial collections are BeatPass-curated catalog surfaces used for staff selections, themed discovery, and featured moments. They are different from producer-managed albums and user-created playlists.

## What Editorial Inclusion Means

* BeatPass administrators choose and manage the tracks in an editorial collection.
* A producer does not need to move a track out of its original album or collection.
* Editorial inclusion does not transfer ownership, change the track's license settings, or alter its original credits.
* A track can appear in an editorial collection and its regular producer-managed release at the same time.

## Who Can Create or Edit One

Editorial collection creation and curation are administrative BeatPass actions. Producer access does not include controls for creating, editing, or guaranteeing placement in these collections.

## Editorial Collection vs. Album vs. Playlist

| Surface | Managed by | Primary purpose | Changes the original release? |
| ------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| **Producer album / collection** | The producer or release owner | Publish a grouped release | It is the original release structure |
| **Playlist** | A user or invited playlist collaborators | Save and sequence tracks for listening | No |
| **Editorial collection** | BeatPass administrators | Curate tracks for platform discovery | No |

## What Producers Should Do

* Keep artwork, credits, genres, tags, and descriptions accurate.
* Maintain the original track and collection instead of creating duplicates for editorial use.
* Treat editorial inclusion as discovery exposure, not as a promise of plays, revenue, or future placement.
