# Downloads & Licensing FAQ

> Frequently asked questions about BeatPass downloads, certificates, and license use.

## Access and downloads

    You need to be signed in, your account must have download access, your subscription cannot be overdue, and the track must still be available for standard download.

  <Accordion title="Can I download my own tracks?" icon="user">
    Yes. Track owners can download their own tracks without needing a standard generated license certificate for that step.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is the track blocked even though I can see it?" icon="triangle-exclamation">
    The most common reasons are: the track was sold exclusively, the track is exclusive-only, or your subscription is overdue.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What file do I get from a standard download?" icon="file-audio">
    The current standard flow downloads the track file itself. Your license certificate is generated automatically at the same time and can be found on the track page or in **Your library** → **Licenses**.

## Certificates and verification

    Go to **Your library** → **Licenses**. You can search by track, artist, licensee, or license ID.

  <Accordion title="Why can't I find my certificate after downloading?" icon="fingerprint">
    Certificates are generated automatically when you download a track. If yours does not appear right away, refresh the page and check **Your library** → **Licenses**. If it is still missing, contact support at [contact@beatpass.ca](mailto:contact@beatpass.ca).

  <Accordion title="Can I verify whether a certificate is real?" icon="shield-halved">
    Yes. Every certificate includes a public verification link that anyone can use to confirm it is valid.

  <Accordion title="What does the public verification page show?" icon="circle-info">
    It shows whether the certificate is valid, along with the certificate ID, track details, license type, masked licensed user, issue date, current status, and verification count.

## License rules

  <Accordion title="What does a standard non-exclusive license let me do?" icon="users" defaultOpen>
    It lets you create one original musical work with the beat, distribute and monetize that finished song, and perform it live up to 50 attendees per event while crediting the producer.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is not allowed under the current standard non-exclusive terms?" icon="circle-xmark">
    You cannot release the beat by itself, use it in film, TV, broadcast radio, commercials, or video games, perform at larger events, resell or share the beat, or register it in Content ID.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I have to credit the producer?" icon="signature">
    Yes for the current standard non-exclusive license. The certificate wording uses **Produced by \[Producer Name]**.

  <Accordion title="What does perpetual mean?" icon="clock">
    It means the license does not expire on its own. The certificate remains valid unless BeatPass later marks it revoked.

## Exclusive purchases

  <Accordion title="What happens when I buy exclusive?" icon="crown" defaultOpen>
    BeatPass completes the secure payment, generates the exclusive license, marks the track as sold, prepares the original WAV download, and stores the license in **Your library** → **Licenses**.

  <Accordion title="Can I still buy exclusive if other users previously downloaded the beat?" icon="users">
    Yes. Existing older licenses remain valid, but no new standard licenses are issued after the exclusive sale.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is included with exclusive?" icon="file-lines">
    The exact deliverables come from the license preview and the final certificate for that track. Do not rely on older generic promises about automatic file bundles.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I transfer an exclusive license to someone else?" icon="arrows-left-right">
    Not by default. The current default exclusive model marks transfer as not allowed.
  </Accordion>

## Producers and privacy

  <Accordion title="Can producers see who licensed or downloaded their tracks?" icon="music" defaultOpen>
    Producers can review license and download-related activity through their tools, including granted licenses shown in **Your library** → **Licenses** for owned tracks.

  <Accordion title="Does the public verification page expose my full email?" icon="user-secret">
    No. The public page shows a masked email only.
