# BeatPass Glossary

> Definitions for key terms and concepts used across the BeatPass platform.

A quick reference for terms and concepts you'll encounter on BeatPass.

## A

  <Accordion title="Achievement">
    A milestone badge you unlock by reaching specific goals on BeatPass — such as uploading a certain number of tracks or earning a set amount of plays. Achievements are displayed on your profile. See [Achievements](/help/gamification/achievements/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Album (Collection)">
    A group of tracks bundled together under a single title and cover art. Producers create albums to organize related beats. Listeners can browse and like entire albums.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Producer Profile">
    The public profile page for an approved producer on BeatPass. It can show a bio, discography, pinned track, gallery, professional credits, and follower-facing identity. See [Producer Profiles](/help/profiles/producer-profiles/index).

## B

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Backstage">
    A BeatPass label used for producer-facing routes such as uploads, application flows, and content-specific tools. The menu label shown to you can vary by account and configuration.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Backstage Insights">
    Content-level analytics for individual tracks, albums, or artist profiles. Shows plays, engagement, geographic data, and more. See [Backstage Insights](/help/analytics/backstage-insights/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Beat Request">
    A feature that lets subscribers request custom beats from producers. Requests use tokens and include specifications like genre, BPM, and mood. See [Beat Requests](/help/beat-requests/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="BEATPAY">
    BeatPass bank payout setup powered by Wise. When it appears in **Finances**, it can receive eligible exclusive-sale payouts and any other earnings marked active for BEATPAY. See [BEATPAY Bank Payouts](/help/earnings/beatpay).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="BeatPassID">
    The track identity record that combines an audio fingerprint with licensing, Sample-Safe status, AI disclosure when available, and promised exclusive deliverables. It helps connect licenses to the audio and terms they cover. See [BeatPassID](/help/downloads-and-licensing/beatpass-id).

## C

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Channel">
    A curated feed of content on BeatPass, organized by genre, mood, or theme. Channels are updated automatically or by editors. See [Channels](/help/discovering-music/channels/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Collaboration">
    When multiple producers are credited on the same track. Collaborators share the track's contribution value equally. Collaborative tracks appear on each credited producer's profile.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Contribution Value">
    A calculated score that determines how much subscription revenue a track earns. It factors in time decay, popularity (plays), and collaboration splits. See [Contribution System](/help/earnings/contribution-system/index).

  <Accordion title="Cover Art">
    The image displayed alongside a track or album. Producers can upload custom artwork or use BeatPass cover art templates. See [Cover Art](/help/uploading/cover-art/index).

  <Accordion title="Discography">
    The main public producer-profile view that can combine pinned tracks, popular and new beats, albums, about information, and professional credits.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Exclusive License">
    A one-time license defined by the track's purchase preview and certificate. It stops new licensing after purchase, while valid licenses issued earlier remain in effect. See [Exclusive Licenses](/help/downloads-and-licensing/exclusive-licenses/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="XP (Experience Points)">
    Points earned by producers for actions like uploading tracks, earning plays, and completing metadata. XP determines your producer level and unlocks achievements. See [XP System](/help/gamification/xp-system/index).

  <Accordion title="Free Account">
    The default non-paid BeatPass account state. Free accounts can browse, stream, like, and build playlists, but licensed downloads require a paid plan. See [Plans & Pricing](/help/plans-and-pricing/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Fingerprint">
    See **BeatPassID**. The unique acoustic signature generated for each uploaded track.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Grace Period">
    The time between cancelling a subscription and losing access. During the grace period, you keep all plan features and can resume your subscription without resubscribing.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Genre Channel">
    A channel dedicated to a specific music genre, such as Trap, R\&B, or Lo-Fi. See [Genre Channels](/help/discovering-music/channels/genre-channels).

  <Accordion title="Leaderboard">
    Rankings that compare producers across the current leaderboard categories exposed by BeatPass. See [Leaderboards](/help/gamification/leaderboards/index).

  <Accordion title="Library">
    Your account-linked collection area for saved tracks, collections, producer pages, listening history, beat requests, licenses, and related personal content. See [Your Library](/help/library/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="License Certificate">
    A verifiable document that proves your right to use a beat. Contains track details, license terms, the BeatPassID fingerprint, and a unique verification URL. See [License Certificates](/help/downloads-and-licensing/license-certificates).
  </Accordion>

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Non-Exclusive License">
    A license granted automatically when a subscriber downloads a beat. Multiple artists can license the same beat. Terms are standardized by BeatPass. See [Downloads & Licensing](/help/downloads-and-licensing/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Perpetual License">
    A license without a scheduled end date. It remains valid after subscription cancellation unless BeatPass later marks the certificate revoked under the applicable terms.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Pinned Track">
    A track a producer highlights at the top of their producer profile. Only one track can be pinned at a time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Platform Fee">
    A transparent fee currently shown as `12% + $3.00 flat` on eligible paid BeatPass checkouts, including subscriptions and exclusive track purchases. On exclusive purchases, the producer receives 100% of their listed price. See [Platform Fee](/help/billing/platform-fee).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Producer Dashboard">
    The career-level management hub for producers. Includes catalog management, earnings, activity tracking, progress, and leaderboards. See [Producer Dashboard](/help/producer-dashboard/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Professional Credits">
    A portfolio feature on producer profiles where producers can showcase Spotify-linked work released outside BeatPass. See [Professional Credits](/help/profiles/producer-profiles/professional-credits).

  <Accordion title="Queue">
    The temporary list of upcoming tracks in the player. You can add, remove, and reorder tracks in the queue. The queue resets when you close the app. See [Queue & Playback](/help/playing-music/queue-and-playback).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Radio">
    An automatic recommendation feature that generates a playlist of similar tracks based on a seed track, album, or artist. See [Radio](/help/discovering-music/radio).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Repost">
    Sharing someone else's track or playlist onto your public profile activity surfaces. See [Reposts](/help/social-features/reposts).

## S

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Sample-Safe Warranty">
    A producer-set clearance status that tells BeatPass whether a beat is marked **Cleared** or **Needs Clearance**. It is self-certification, not an automatic legal guarantee from BeatPass. See [Sample-Safe](/help/uploading/sample-safe).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Stripe Connect">
    A legacy payout setup. Producers who connected Stripe in the past keep receiving payouts through it until their BEATPAY bank setup is active; new Stripe accounts can no longer be connected. See [Stripe Connect (Legacy)](/help/earnings/stripe-connect/index).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Subscriber">
    A user with a paid BeatPass plan (Classic, Plus, or Pro). Subscribers can download beats with non-exclusive licenses, create beat requests, and access premium features.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Time Decay">
    The gradual decrease in a track's contribution value over time. Newer tracks contribute more to the revenue pool. The half-life is approximately 6 months. See [Earnings Formula](/help/earnings/contribution-system/formula).

  <Accordion title="Token">
    The currency used to create beat requests. Tokens are included with paid subscription plans and refresh monthly. See [Understanding Tokens](/help/beat-requests/understanding-tokens).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Verified Badge">
    A badge on a producer profile indicating the producer's identity has been confirmed by BeatPass. See [Verified Badge](/help/profiles/producer-profiles/verified-badge).
