# License Configuration

> Configure the terms and usage rights for your exclusive licenses.

When you enable exclusive licensing on a beat, BeatPass lets you configure the terms that will be written into the buyer's exclusive certificate. This page explains the current settings and defaults.

## Where You Configure It

You see exclusive configuration inside the track form when the licensing model is:

* **Standard + Exclusive**
* **Exclusive Only**

The section lives under **Licensing Options** on the current track form.

## Publishing Rights Split

This controls how publishing is divided between you and the buyer.

| Field              | Current Default |

| **Producer share** | 20%             |
| **Licensee share** | 80%             |

BeatPass requires the two values to add up to **100%**.

## Territory

This controls where the exclusive license applies. Current options include:

* Worldwide
* United States
* Canada
* United Kingdom
* Europe
* Asia
* North America
* South America
* Africa
* Australia/Oceania

**Worldwide** is the current default.

## Governing Law Country

This controls which country's laws are written into the exclusive certificate for disputes and contract interpretation.

Do not rely on the default without reviewing it. The country shown in the preview and final certificate is what the buyer sees for that purchase, subject to the BeatPass Terms and any non-waivable law.

  For a new configuration, BeatPass prefills this from the country saved in **Account Settings**. Review it before publishing. Changing your account country later does not overwrite terms already saved on a beat.

## Usage Rights

The **Permissions & files** area separates rights into two groups.

The following core rights are included with every exclusive license and appear as enabled, read-only controls:

* Distribution
* Music and video use
* Non-profit performances

You can separately choose these optional permissions before a sale:

* Broadcasting
* Streaming services
* For-profit performances
* Content ID registration

Review these rights carefully before listing a beat, especially if you want more limited or more custom terms.

## Files to Deliver

The exclusive form lets you choose which files the buyer receives. Current options include:

* WAV
* WAV Tagged
* MP3 320
* MP3 256
* FLAC
* Stems
* MIDI
* Trackout / Multitrack

A new track starts with only **WAV (Uncompressed)** selected because BeatPass can deliver the original uploaded WAV immediately.

Exclusive offers must also include **Stems (Separated Tracks)**. When you select stems, BeatPass asks you to guarantee that you can provide them to the buyer. Any other checked file is also a promise you must fulfill. BeatPass does not host stems, MIDI, or trackout files. If promised files cannot be delivered, the purchase may be refunded and the issued license may be revoked.

## Content ID Permission

Exclusive configuration includes a toggle for **Content ID** registration. The system starting configuration allows it, but the setting saved on the beat controls the buyer's actual terms.

This matters because exclusive buyers often want to protect their release across YouTube and similar platforms.

## Producer Royalty

The exclusive form also includes an ongoing **Producer Royalty** percentage.

Use this field when you want the exclusive certificate to preserve ongoing producer participation beyond the upfront sale and publishing split.

## Contact Email

If you enable exclusive licensing, BeatPass requires an **exclusive contact email**. Buyers can use it for licensing questions, and BeatPass uses it as part of the exclusive setup.

## What Locks After a Sale

Once a beat is sold exclusively:

* The exclusive terms are locked
* BeatPass keeps the certificate tied to the exact sold terms
* The audio, licensing model, status, price, and license configuration can no longer be changed
* You can still update the cover art
