Content ID & Copyright Claims

What to do if you receive a Content ID or copyright claim on a release that uses a BeatPass-licensed beat.

Claims can happen even when you licensed a beat correctly. This is especially common with non-exclusive licensing, where more than one artist may legally use the same beat.

A claim does not automatically mean your license is invalid. Start by checking your certificate and the public verification link.

Why claims happen

Common causes include:

• Another release using the same beat triggered an automated match
• The producer or another rights party registered related audio with a platform system
• A distributor or platform flagged the release for manual review

What to gather first

Before you dispute anything, collect:

• Your BeatPass license certificate
• The license UUID
• The public verification URL
• The track title and credited producer name

The easiest place to get that information is Your library → Licenses.

How to respond

1. Confirm the license details

   Make sure you are looking at the right track and the right certificate.

2. Open the public verification page

   Check that the license still shows as valid.

3. Use the platform or distributor dispute flow

   Submit the license certificate or verification URL anywhere the platform asks for proof of permission.

4. Explain the license type clearly

   Say whether the release uses a standard non-exclusive license or an exclusive purchase.

Non-exclusive vs exclusive in claim situations

Non-exclusive

You can dispute claims against your finished song with the certificate, but you cannot register the beat in Content ID under the current standard terms.

Exclusive

The current default exclusive terms allow Content ID registration. Use the certificate terms and verification link if a claim still appears.

Save the certificate link or PDF with your project files so you can answer claims quickly.

Use the correct producer credit

Accurate credits help keep release information consistent with the license terms.

Read the exclusive terms before major releases

If you purchased exclusive rights for a major release, check the generated certificate before assuming every right is unlimited in the exact way you want.
