The Sample-Safe(TM) Warranty section tells BeatPass whether your beat is fully cleared or whether a buyer should expect extra sample-clearance work. This is producer self-certification. BeatPass relies on the status you choose when showing sample-related warnings to buyers.
Sample-Safe is about sample clearance. It does not replace BeatPass’s AI Audio Policy, human-made beat requirement, AI disclosure obligations, or Proof of Rights requirements for AI-generated elements.

Current Sample-Safe States

When uploading or editing a beat, BeatPass currently gives you two main choices:

Cleared

Use this when the beat is 100% original or all samples are fully cleared.

Needs Clearance

Use this when the beat includes samples that still require outside clearance.

How to Set It

1

Open Protection & Verification

On the track form, go to the section that includes Sample-Safe(TM) Warranty.
2

Choose the status card

Click either Cleared or Needs Clearance.
3

Add notes if needed

BeatPass only shows the Additional Notes field when you choose Needs Clearance.
4

Save the track

Your selected state is saved with the beat.

What Buyers See

The current UI behavior is:
  • Cleared -> BeatPass shows the beat as sample-safe certified
  • Needs Clearance -> BeatPass shows a buyer-facing clearance warning
That warning is important because it changes how comfortable a buyer may be using the beat commercially.

What Counts as Cleared?

Choose Cleared only when one of these is true:
  • The beat is built entirely from original material
  • All sampled material is properly licensed or cleared
  • The sample source is truly safe for your intended distribution

What Counts as Needs Clearance?

Choose Needs Clearance when:
  • You sampled another recording or composition without full clearance
  • You used material that could trigger outside permissions
  • You are unsure whether the sample use is fully cleared
When in doubt, Needs Clearance is the safer choice. Mislabeling a beat as cleared can create legal and business problems for both you and the buyer.

Notes for Uncleared Samples

If you choose Needs Clearance, use the notes field to add context such as:
  • What type of sample was used
  • Whether clearance is in progress
  • Anything the buyer should understand before release
Keep the note short and practical.

Best Practices

Keep receipts, licenses, and written permissions for sample packs and cleared content.
If you later clear the sample, come back and switch the beat from Needs Clearance to Cleared.

How This Differs From AI Use

Sample-Safe and AI Use & Rights Verification are separate checks:
AreaWhat it answers
Sample-SafeAre samples original, cleared, or still needing outside clearance?
AI Use & Rights VerificationWas AI used, does the beat remain human-made, and can the producer prove commercial-use rights for AI material?
Choosing Needs Clearance for sample status does not make unverifiable AI content acceptable. If an AI sample, loop, vocal, stem, or generated source cannot be verified or licensed through BeatPass, it should not remain in your catalog. See AI Audio and Human-Made Content for the AI policy.
