These guidelines apply to all producers who upload content to BeatPass. Following these rules helps maintain a safe, high-quality platform for everyone.

Content Requirements

You Must Own the Rights

Every beat you upload must be:
  • Original work that you created
  • Yours to license — You must have the rights to grant licenses to others
  • Free of third-party claims — No uncleared samples, stolen loops, or copyrighted material
  • Human-made — You must make a meaningful human creative contribution to the beat
  • Verifiable — You must be able to provide Proof of Rights for samples, AI-generated elements, vocals, loops, artwork, and other source material when requested
Uploading content you don’t own can result in DMCA takedowns, account suspension, and legal liability.

Audio Quality Standards

For the best experience for users and to maintain platform quality:
  • Upload in WAV format only. Compressed formats (such as MP3) and other lossless formats (such as FLAC) are not accepted.
  • Ensure audio is properly mixed and mastered
  • Avoid clipping, distortion, or excessive noise
  • Check your files play correctly before publishing

Metadata Accuracy

Accurate metadata helps users discover your beats:
  • Title — Use a clear, descriptive title
  • Genre — Select the most accurate primary genre
  • BPM — Enter the correct tempo
  • Key — Specify the musical key if known
  • Tags — Add relevant tags that describe your beat
Complete, accurate metadata improves your visibility in search results and can earn you achievements.

Prohibited Content

The following content is not allowed on BeatPass:
  • Beats containing uncleared samples from other songs
  • Content that infringes on trademarks or copyrights
  • Re-uploads of beats you’ve already sold exclusively

AI Policy Violations

  • Fully AI-generated beats
  • Beats where AI replaced the producer’s creative role
  • AI-generated audio, vocals, stems, loops, or samples that cannot be verified
  • AI output made under non-commercial, personal-use, trial, education-only, platform-only, remix-only, or otherwise restricted terms
  • AI material that cannot be sold, distributed, licensed, and used through BeatPass
  • AI content that uses a real person’s voice, likeness, name, persona, performance, or other protected identity rights without all required rights
  • Misleading style imitation, false association, or deceptive presentation that harms platform trust or creator identity

Harmful Content

  • Content promoting violence, hate, or discrimination
  • Beats with explicit lyrics that aren’t properly labeled
  • Content that harasses or threatens individuals

Misleading Content

  • Beats uploaded under false claims of ownership
  • Duplicate uploads of the same beat under different names
  • Content designed to manipulate play counts or rankings

Illegal Content

  • Content that violates local or international laws
  • Content that promotes illegal activities
  • Material that exploits or endangers anyone

Sample Clearance

If your beat contains samples:
  1. Clear all samples before uploading
  2. Ensure you have written permission from the copyright holder
  3. Be prepared to provide proof of clearance if requested

What Counts as a Sample?

  • Portions of other songs (vocals, melodies, drums)
  • Loops or sounds from sample packs that restrict licensing
  • Recreations that are substantially similar to existing works

Royalty-Free and Licensed Sounds

You may use:
  • Royalty-free sample packs that allow commercial licensing
  • Sounds from libraries you’ve legitimately purchased
  • Original recordings you’ve created yourself
Even “royalty-free” samples have terms. Make sure the license allows you to authorize BeatPass to issue licenses to consumers.

AI Use and Rights Verification

AI may assist your workflow, but BeatPass is not a platform for fully AI-generated music. If AI was used in any part of a beat or source element, be ready to explain:
  • which AI tool, service, model, or plug-in was used
  • how AI was used
  • which part of the beat includes AI-generated or AI-processed material
  • the approximate extent of AI-generated audio
  • how you edited, replayed, chopped, arranged, mixed, or transformed the AI output
  • what rights, plan, license, or permission allow the content to be licensed through BeatPass
Sample-Safe and AI Use & Rights Verification are separate. Choosing Needs Clearance for samples does not make unverifiable AI-generated audio acceptable.

Exclusive Availability

When you upload a beat to BeatPass:
  • You can also sell it on other platforms (it’s non-exclusive to BeatPass)
  • If you sell the beat exclusively to someone outside BeatPass, you must remove it from the platform
  • Once a beat is sold exclusively through BeatPass, it’s automatically removed from general availability

Enforcement

What Happens If You Violate These Guidelines

BeatPass may remove content that violates these guidelines. Accounts with repeated or serious violations may face upload restrictions, feature limitations, or termination. For non-urgent AI classifications or Proof of Rights decisions, producers may request review within 7 days after BeatPass sends notice. BeatPass may treat decisions as final for fabricated proof, bad-faith submissions, repeat violations, or urgent legal-risk situations.

DMCA Takedowns

If a valid DMCA notice is received about your content:
  • The content will be removed
  • You’ll be notified and can submit a counter-notice if you believe the removal was a mistake
  • Repeated DMCA takedowns can result in account termination

Reporting Violations

If you see content that violates these guidelines: All reports are reviewed and appropriate action is taken.
